Roofing Calculation Formula
Area Calculation
Sloped Area = Length × Width × Pitch Factor
Where: Pitch Factor = √(Rise² + Run²) ÷ Run
Example: 40×20ft with 6/12 pitch → 40×20×1.118 = 894.4 sq ft
Sheet Calculation
Sheets = (Area × (1 + Waste%)) ÷ (Length × Effective Width)
Effective Width = Sheet Width - 2 inches (overlap allowance)
Example: 894.4 sq ft with 10% waste, 10×3ft sheets → (894.4×1.1) ÷ (10×2.83) = 34.8 → 35 sheets
