Attendance Summary
About This Attendance Calculator
Enter how many classes were held and how many you attended, and this gives your percentage against your target โ plus the number that people actually come here for: how many classes in a row you have to attend to get back above the line, or how many you can still miss if you are above it.
The Arithmetic Behind the Answer
classes needed = (target ร held โ attended) รท (1 โ target)
classes you can miss = (attended โ target ร held) รท target
The dividing line in both is the target itself, and it is why recovery is slow. A missed class adds one to the denominator and nothing to the numerator; an attended class adds one to each. Below target, every class you attend improves the fraction by less than the one you missed damaged it.
Where You Stand at 75%
| Attendance so far | Current | Classes needed in a row | Classes you can miss |
|---|---|---|---|
| 35 of 60 | 58.3% | 40 | โ |
| 40 of 60 | 66.7% | 20 | โ |
| 48 of 70 | 68.6% | 18 | โ |
| 45 of 60 | 75.0% | on target | 0 |
| 54 of 60 | 90.0% | on target | 12 |
| 85 of 100 | 85.0% | on target | 13 |
Both columns assume a 75% requirement and an unbroken run. One further absence and the "needed" figure goes up again.
